Seven Springs
One of the most charming destinations on Rhodes island, Seven Springs offers a cool, magical landscape, a real oasis, even in the heat of high summer, a charming retreat in the most lavish of Mediterranean greens.
Water flows out of the springs all year around, which forming a small lake. You get to the lake by walking through a narrow 186m-long tunnel. The lake remains replenished thanks to a dam built by the Italians, in order to provide the nearbyt settlement Kolympia with fresh water.
Kallithea Springs
Kalithea (Kallithea) is the beach where many locals like to gather every day. The attraction is partly the sort distance from Bella Foresta (about 3km distance), partly the glamour of the magnificent Baths built here by the Italians (no longer in operation), as well as the obvious delights of mezedes and the tiny inlets and coves with their sculptured rocks and clear green water.
Especially outside the high season, this is the favorite spot for local people looking for a quick swim.
Valley of Petaloudes
A unique nature reserve is to be found inland on Rhodes, “Butterfly Valley” (in Greek “Petaloúdes”). Apart from its aesthetic value, it is also the site of the only natural forest of Liquidambar orientalis (Oriental Sweetgum trees) in Europe, and a resting point for the Jersey tiger (Panaxia Quadripunctaria), a nocturnal moth..
An excellent place for families with children who wish to enjoy the beauties of nature and examine the life cycle of butterflies as part of their summer holiday.
Filerimos
Filerimos is situated near the village of Trianta, standing on the very site where the Doric city of Ialyssos once flourished. When the Dorians arrived around 1100 BC, Ialysos became member of the alliance known as the Dorian Hexapolis.
Archaeologists came across the necropolis of ancient Ialisos between Trianta and Filerimos.
Lindos
Don't miss this great tourist attraction. Lindos: a magnificent acropolis on a imposing rock. Nestling at the foot of a steep rock and beautifully surrounded by the sea lies the traditional settlement of Líndos; on the top of the same rock stands a centuries-old acropolis, proudly overlooking the archipelagos.
The acropolis bears silent witness to Líndos’ glorious past, a major naval power of ancient times which reputedly had a population of 17,000.
Rhodes Old Town:
The Old City of Rhodes with a current population of 6,000 inhabitants is surrounded by medieval walls with seven gates: Gate of the Naval Station, Gate of Agios Ioannis, Gate of Agia Ekaterini, Gate of the Apostle Paul, Gate of Amboise, Gate of Agios Athanassios and the Gate of the Port. Entering these gates will take you at another world to explore! Full of cafeterias, bars, museums this place is the heart of Rhodes at summers
The Palace of the Grand Master of the Knights of Rhodes, also known as the Kastello, is a medieval castle in the center of the Old Town. It is a strong structure till today, indissolubly linked with the fortifications, and played an active role in the defense of the city, It is one of the few examples of Gothic architecture in Greece.
